‘Health is in your Hands’: Motivating Children to Wash Their Hands

Session Overview:

In this session from the 2020 GovComms Festival, the CEO of La LinkUp FactorySandrine Raffin and Professor at AgroParisTechPatricia Gurviez discuss Vivons en Forme, a community-based program that began in 2005 and is dedicated to promoting healthier lifestyles. There are 251 towns and cities involved in the program and almost 200,000 children involved as well.

The program decided upon ‘health is in your hand's as their theme for 2020 to reflect the public contribution to social distancing measures. The speakers explain how they used playful themes and fun games to encourage children to wash their hands during COVID-19 through this program.

They explain how the program is based on a 2014 social media campaign in Australia that encourages aboriginal children to turn washing their hands into a regular habit.

They explore the demographic of children, and how the Vivons en Forme program sought to understand this demographic to produce the best impact.

Patricia also discusses the Collective Impact Approach that brings people together to achieve social change and tackle complex social problems. They explain the five key conditions to the successful implementation of Collective Impact.
