Well-Being by Design: How Marketing can Change People for the Better

Session Overview:

In this session from the 2020 GovComms Festival, Research Assistant at Griffith UniversityYannickvan Hierdanexplains how we can use participatory design to create user-friendly services that improve the well-being of consumers and citizens.

Yannick explains the difference between bottom-up and top-down design approaches. He examines how bottom-up design approaches use the process of participatory design.

Yannick guides us through the four steps of the participatory design process: collect, prototype, implement and evaluate. Yannick gives examples of each of the steps in practice.

Yannick also explains the importance of theories within behavior change programs. He claims that theories can help us explain and predict human behavior, allowing communicators to understand the effects of their actions in advance.
