Barbara Tversky

Barbara Tversky is a cognitive psychologist, professor emerita at Stanford University and current Professor at Columbia Teachers College. Her work has spanned memory, information processing, categorization, spatial memory and thinking, event perception and cognition, diagrammatic reasoning, gesture, story-telling, creativity, art, and design. She has enjoyed collaborations with linguists, neuroscientists, computer scientists, domain scientists, artists, and designers. She has served as president of the Association for Psychological Science, on the governing boards of many journals and professional societies, and is fellow of the Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Association for Psychological Science, the Cognitive Science Society, and the Society for Experimental Psychology, and received the Kampe de Feriat Prize as well as awards for teaching and software.
